So much to say---so much to do!!! i am trying to take full advantage of my precious time before the semester begins...

First, a look back on the last year:

8. National Treasure
7. Big Fish
6. Saved
5. Lost in Translation
4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
3. Garden State

And those I still need to see:

3.Sky Captain and the World of Tommorow
4.A Series of Unforturnate Events
5.Vanity Fair

This year, I was able to see Simon and Garfunkel on their Friends tour (A Large check off my to-do list)...Other highlights include a trip to New Orleans, a great camping trip to the Ozarks, the annual Memorial Day Bash, becoming a certified associate behavior analyst, changing to the special education graduate program, a promotion at work, getting a rat named Chloe, and of course, as always, spending as much time as possible with Dave, family, and friends...

I now look toward a new year---one that looks to be full of celebrations, accomplishments, and changes...Of course i do not know what is to come---who does of course???---nonetheless i look forward to the weddings of two of my best friends in april and my cousin in chicago in march...i will be in chicago again over memorial day for the international behavior analysis conference and perhaps a third time for the red sox/cubs game in june... i have applied for my first passport with the hopes that i will finally leave the continent this spring with my sister (pending, of course)...most important for me, i will graduate with a masters degree in special education autism intervention with a graduate certificate in behavior analysis THIS AUGUST (and then i plan to stay far away from a university for many years, for this past year and a half has been quite trying)...there are many other changes that seem to be looming just out of reach, so i will sit back and enjoy each moment to see what this new year will bring with it...

19th July, 2004. 9:15 pm. Lets break it down, shall we?

After a 7 hour drive on Wednesday filled with roads resembling a spiral staircase, we arrived at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. My family was there to greet us, and we proceded to unpack and set up our tent (Thanks again Chris!!!)... After a ride, a great dinner and a short campfire, we called it a day.

Thursday came early with the sun quick to show itself through nylon walls... After much debate, the big group split up and my immediate family convinced Dave and I to go kayaking on Table Rock Lake... It was very peaceful and envigorating...We all reunited again for a swim at the nicely combed beach... The last of the group arrived that nite, and we ventured to a scenic overlook to make it very evident that we were tourists, as we snapped group photos to the sunset... Another fabulous camp feast followed by fire.

Happy birthday to Dave!!! My dad took Dave golfing at a PGA style course, but all were quickly interupted by some showers and thunderheads... No worries!!! We all decided to head south to find Jesus...Yes, seriously---We went to a town called Eureka Springs, Arkansas which is the home of the Christ of the Ozarks (a hundred foot statue of Jesus on a hill)... The good news: chocolate dipped strawberries and veggie sandwiches on romanian homemade bread, the bad news: carsickness and well, a hundred foot statue of Jesus on a hill... upon our return to camp, Dave took a three hour bike ride while my mom made a cake in the fire with a cardboard box and some foil (McGyver???) Following a presentation of a memory quilt my cousin made of my Grandma for each of us, my WHOLE family sang and celebrated for Dave... Then we went mini-golfing...I suck.... We ended the night with a Sonic jr. banana split straight from Branson, MO...

Given a raincheck, dad and Dave got another chance at the golf course Saturday morning, while the girls caught up on some gossip...this was the morning I thought I slept in---really it was only 8:20....hmmmmm, damn sun... After they returned, we ventured into the town for nearly the last time to visit a winery (briefly) and an outdoor outlet (also briefly)...then it was on to the cave----we stepped down very slowly into a deep cavern by way of narrow winding staircases...it was a nice break from the heat and another cave to add to the list... After a second swim in the lake, we got ready for the grand finale: An hour and a half cruise on a Cattamaran sailboat at sunset---talk about peace and quiet!!! Sonic and a campfire topped off the evening, followed by a deep, cool (finally) night's sleep...

Woke up EARLY Sunday to 3 families breaking camp...after some breakfast burritos, packing and quick goodbyes, we were on our way back to Texas----we made it back in 6 hours and 45 minutes... I love vacation.

Current mood: calm.
Current music: S & G.

11th July, 2004. 9:11 pm. The Noise of Quiet

What a great week!

A dream of mine was fulfilled on thursday nite----I grew up in a home full of classic rock and roll and folk music....I still have not found anything quite like it....and thursday I saw Simon and Garfunkel perform together again....It was fabulous....They played all the old favorites, nailed the harmonies, delivered an amazing show, and finished off strong.

Started the second season of 6 Feet Under....I'm loving it...I hope I will catch up someday! Maybe by next summer.

Texas Hold'em Rules.
